Two whitetail deer bucks and a doe stand on alert at the edge of a field in Cynthie Fisher's print Cautious. Deer are by nature CAUTIOUS.  They don't even truly sleep.  Instead, they doze always trying to stay aware of any potential danger.  Winter is the only time when you will see two big bucks in the same herd with a doe.  They stay together in winter to better protect themselves from the elements.
